Identical twins male and female raised together but now living apart who are BOTH willing to participate are needed The twins will be asked to record their dreams and the content analyzed to determine if twins have different dreams from singles and similar dreams to other twins.

The Dream Institute of Northern California defines itself as “an experimental cultural center that offers public lectures and workshops, dream study groups, dream-based cultural events, professional dream consultation, and the innovative method ‘Culture DreamingTM.‘” The organization, based in Berkeley, CA, is co-sponsoring an Earth Day celebration on April 20. The description from the web site of the International Association for the Study of Dreams offers this description:
“Dreaming the Earth,” an Earth day celebration, will be held on Sunday, April 20, at the JFK University Arts Annex in Berkeley. The program, co-sponsored by the Dream Institute of Northern California and the JFKU School of Holistic Studies, features several IASD members, starting with a panel discussion on “Environmental Awareness through Dreams” with Meredith Sabini, Kelly Bulkeley, and Marilyn Fowler, to be followed by a new dream play, “The Earth is Humming,” directed by Richard Russo.
Sabini and Russo, the co-directors of the Dream Institute, are also initiating a new program, the Community Dream Council, on Fri. night, April 11. Modeled after shamanic cultures, this monthly meeting will provide an opportunity for members of the community to come together to share and discuss “big” dreams about current events, the culture, and other transpersonal aspects of their dreaming.

News, The Curious Dreamer | Comments (0)Cherries: Food for Sweet Dreams?
According to Dr. Russel Reiter, a nutrition researcher, eating a handful of tart cherries 30 minutes before bed can lead to a good night’s sleep (and hopefully also sweet dreams) due to their sleep-inducing melatonin.
The article, which focuses on reducing stress around the holidays, also suggests skipping carbs until 5pm. Apparently, carbs are supposed to “encourage a rush of seratonin which calms the brain, helps you relax and can aid sleep.”

Studies | Comments (0)Light at Night Linked to Breast Cancer
Exposure to light at night may lead to breast cancer, according to the findings of a recent study:
Using nighttime satellite images of 147 communities in Israel, the researchers determined that intensity of light at night in a community was strongly correlated with breast cancer rates. In other words, women in those communities with the brightest light at night had the highest rates of breast cancer, followed by those in average light communities, which had higher rates than those in low light communities….Previous studies point to an independent association between light at night and higher rates of breast cancer in women who do nighttime shift work (e.g., nurses, flight attendants). Evidence suggests that this association may involve melatonin, a hormone that helps prevent tumor formation and is suppressed in the presence of light.
